Kavinpuram Devi temple is positioned near Ramapuram, Kottayam district in the state of Kerala, India. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and his consort Goddess Parvati. This is one of the rarest temples in Kerala.

The history says that Arjuna, one of the five Pandavas happened to pass through a forest. Arjuna was a magnificent archer which made him famous. Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati wanted to teach him a lesson to destroy his ego. They disguised themselves as a King and a Queen and approached him for a challenge. Enraged Arjuna, accepted the challenge and was unfortunately defeated. Humiliated Arjuna, then realized the King’s true identity and apologized.
The temple is open for devotees from 5 AM to 10.30 AM and from 4.30 PM and 8.30 PM.
Kavinpuram Devi Temple celebrates many festivals and rituals with much pomp and show. During the festival time the temple is beautifully decorated with lights and flowers. The main festival of the temple is celebrated on the 12th and 13th days of the month Dhanu in the native calendar. It usually falls in the month of December. The principal attraction at this festival is the Kavinpuram Thalappoli. This is a long procession of people carrying oil lit lamps at night. Devotees from different places come to the temple to participate in this event. Apart from this there are many other festivals celebrated by the temple like Pongala and Naranga Vilakku. These are celebrated in the month of Vrischikom.
The daily poojas are performed in the temple by the devotees by offering flowers and coconut to the idols. The important rituals performed in the temple are Aranaazhipayasam, Nirmala Pooja and Pushpanjali. Devotees also offer coconut in front of the idol of Lord Ganesha, Neerajanam for Lord Sastha, Palpayasam for Rakshas, and Thalichukoda and Ayilyapooja for Sarpam.
