The Thiruvambadi Sri Krishna temple is positioned in Patturaikkal, Thrissur district in the state of Kerala, India. The temple is dedicated to Lord Krishna. Dress code is a must inside in the temple. Modern dresses are strictly not allowed.
The temple is open for devotees from 5.30 AM to 11 AM and from 5 PM to 8 PM.
Thrissur Pooram is the 7-day long major festival celebrated in the temple. From the day of Kodiyettam (hoisting of temple flag), the deity is carried on the elephant to various houses nearby. The householders receive the deity in great reverence and offer paddy and other agricultural products in full measures unto the Lord. Full measure is called ‘Para’ and the event is called Parayeduppu. The Para offering can be done at the Temple also. Other festivals celebrated in the temple are Navarathri, Sri Krishna Jayanthi, Vaikunda Ekadasi, Thiru Utsava, Sahasrakalasam and Kuchela Dinam.
The presiding deity of the temple is Unnikrishnan, Lord Krishna in his infant form. The idol of Goddess Bhagavathy is installed just to the left of Lord Krishna. Other deities in the temple include Lord Ganesha and Dharmshastha.
