Dishisvar Shiva Temple, an ancient Hindu temple, is located in Bhubaneshwar in the Indian state of Orissa. The temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, enshrines a Shivalingam within a circular yonipitha, installed inside the sanctum sanctorum or garbhagriha.
This religious edifice dating back to 15th century is a private owned property. The temple constructed enclosed within a private compound is surrounded by vertical rising skyscrapers and residential buildings on the eastern, western and southern sides and streets on the northern side.
Dishisvar Shiva Temple, reflecting the aesthetic and ingenious sagacity of the artisans, confirms itself to the kalingan architectural style. The monument has been chiefly built of laterite with the usage of dry masonry construction technique.
Failing to stand the test of time, the temple presently, is in a dilapidated condition owing to the growth and development of vegetation scattered all over superstructure and also in the adjacent areas. Cracks have developed in the roof and in the conjunction of the pagas. Earlier the temple repaired and renovated by the State Archaeology during X and XI Finance Commission Award.

Temple remains open from 6am to 9pm. During this period major rituals of Lord Shiva are performed. Mahashiva Ratri is celebrated at a grand scale in this temple. The months of September to November are perfect to visit this temple because, the climate is moderately cold, pleasant and perfect for enjoying the natural beauty. People, who want to enjoy the temple’s beauty and architecture calmly, should not visit the temple during the months of June or July.
As the temple is currently in a dilapidated state, there are no such major events held. However, pilgrims visit the temple during the event of Shiva ratri and Makar Sankranti.
