In samvat 1428 Shri Bhim Singhji Chauhan was the ruler, who was a staunch believer of Chauth Mataji. One day in his dream Chauth Mataji guided him to establish her in Barwara in place of Panchala village. Hence Sh. Bhim Singhji Chauhan established the cave temple of Chauth Mataji on the highest mountain of Aravli ranges situated in the west of the village in the month of Buddi Chaturthi Samvat 1451. The village was thus renamed as Chauth Ka Barwada. On the basis of the Shilalekha’s in the year 1682 Shri Tej Singh Rathore got the walls build, which were facing towards the rust in Bhadwa Shudi Dwadashi, and in the rule of Shri Jawahar Singhji got the statue of Lord Ganesh establish towards the west of Chauth Mata. Since then this place has been popular as Chauth Ganesha.

The image of the goddess seated on a lion is in white marble and is installed in the sanctrum sanctorum. At the back to the left side is the idol of Bhairuji. By the idol of Chauth Mata there is an idol of Ganesh ji. People also call Ganesh Chauth.
The goddess commands wide spread respect. People from the state and also from the states nearby flock to the temple to have their wishes fulfilled by the divine favors of the mother goddess. The temple commands a scenoric and panoramic beauty.
The huge and vast temple is built on the hill. There is a flight of 700 steps to reach the temple. Around the temple a verandah has been constructed. The temple is double storyed. While the statues are of marble, the temple has been built with RCC, cement, Sand and stone.
Sanctrum Sanctorum is in square shape and has been built on RCC pillars. The idol of the goddess is in marble and the goddess is shown sitting on lion’s back. In front, a verandah has been built. The Bhairu temple is at the back. Everyday Mangala aarthi and Shayam aarti are performed.
By Road:Ranthambore is well connected from all major cities and towns through the state bus service so that the people can easily take bus from the nearby residents to reach the place comfortably. Apart from the state bus service, tourists also have a choice to take the buses of local, luxury and private operators. The distance between temple and Ranthambore is 72 Kms.
By Rail: : The nearest railway station that connects temple to other important cities is Sawai Madhopur Railway Station. The tourists can avail local bus, taxi, or cab to reach the Temple smoothly.
By Air: The Temple can be reached through nearest Jaipur Airport (160 Km) which is well connected with regular domestic flights to Delhi, Mumbai.
The Temple opens at 6:00 AM in the morning and is closed at 9:00 PM. Archana, Abhishekam and Arathi are the daily rituals performed in the temple.
Special navratra prayers and rituals are held in the month of Chaitra and Ashwin. Also in the month of Magha, on the fourth day a big mela (fair) begins and lasts for 15 days. Nearly married couples visit the temple for blessings of a happy continual life. Small newly babes are also brought to the temple for the ritual first sheering of their hair.
