The Yatra trek through the mountains of south Kashmir Himalayas to the Holy Cave Shrine of Shri Amarnathji is made available only in the months of summer to pay obeisance. In the month of Shravan (July – August) the Holy Cave Shrine of Shri Amarnathji has the devout flock, where the image of Lord Shiva, in the form of a Lingam, is formed naturally of ice – stalagmite, and which waxes and wanes with the moon.

Shri Amarnath Yatra is for a specific period/ duration, commencing on an announced date, mostly on the auspicious day of Purshotam Purnima as per the Hindu Calendar, and concludse on the day of Shravan Purnima (Raksha Bandhan).

The trek to Amarnath in the month of Shravan has the devout flock to this incredible shrine, where the image of Shiva, in the form of a lingam, is formed naturally of an Ice Stalagmite, which waxes and wanes with the Moon’s cycle. By its side are the fascinating, two lingams, that of Maa Parvati and of their son, Ganesha.

Itinerary Details

Day 1 – Srinagar – Sonmarg

Soon after the arrival in Srinagar, transfer to Sonmarg for overnight stay at the hotel

Day 2 – Panjtarni – Amarnath Cave

The second day begins with the Amarnath Yatra by helicopter, from Baltal to Panjtarni helipad. From the helipad, visit the Amarnath Cave, which is almost 6 km from Panjtarni by walk, horse or Palki. Then return back from the cave to Panjtarni, followed by the helicopter ride to Baltal and the transfer to Srinagar by vehicle. The night stay is in the houseboat in Srinagar.

Day 3 – Departure

After the breakfast, move to the Srinagar airport for onward journey.
